Shirakawago & Gokayama Tour
Check out the historic World Heritage listed villages of Shirakawago and Gokayama which are known for its “gassho-zukuri” structures. Gassho-zukuri is a house built of wooden beams combined to form a steep thatched roof that resembles two hands clasped together in prayer.
Located in a mountain region with considerable snowfall, the houses are designed in such way so that it can easily shed snow from its roof. This is to prevent the house from being crushed under the weight.
Throughout the years, the villages have been well preserved along with a unique way of life untouched for centuries. Enjoy the beautiful landscape of the historic villages which have retained the traditional life and culture of Japan.
